About the School

History of the school- In 2000 the Choluteca regional ministry team conducted a strategic planning process which concluded that vocational education was one of the biggest needs faced int the region. At the same time, vocational education was viewed as a great opportunity to facilitate the transformation of the community.

Vocational education could be used to teach skills which would enable graduates to obtain better jobs. As the Choluteca team began seeking property to start a school, they were surprised to learn that another organization was building a vocational school in that very same region. So, instead, over the next five years, churches were built, a clinic was established, and adult junior high educational programs were started by the team in two communities. Then in the summer of 2006, they were contacted by the owners of the vocational school and offered the property with the fully-equipped buildings. The school was given to World Gospel Mission at no charge, and classes began in September 2006.

When our regional ministry team took over the administration of the vocational school in 2006, there were three areas of study already functioning. Each of the areas has classroom space, basic tools and work shop areas to accommodate 20 students at a time.

The vocational school is blessed with great instructors who are not only very capable of teaching their specific technical areas, but are also concerned for the well-being of every student. All of our instructors are certified through CADERH  which is the organization that also certifies our students.

In the future, the school will install production facilities which will complement each of our areas of study. The goals for production are to give the student a practical educational experience to accompany the theory being taught in the classroom, and also to help the school become self-sustaining.
