Preventive and Curative Health Care
The Choluteca ministry team has recognized the need for emphasizing both curative care as well as preventive health care in the communities where the team members are working. A clinic is caring for patients in the "Los Mangos" community of Choluteca. Angie Overholt is a Family Nurse Practitioner and specializes in working with diabetic patients, women’s health, and children’s health. The Ohio State University has been bringing medical brigades every year for the past ten years.
Preventive health care is an important element of the community transformation efforts in several different regions. There are 28 Community Health Evangelists (CHE) who have been prepared to work in the regional outreach areas. The CHE workers seek to assist community members in finding sustainable solutions to many of the difficulties that they encounter.
